This amazing piece stands approximately 22.00 cm. in height to the top of the lid, roughly 34.00 cm. across to the tips of the handles, has an inside diameter of 21.00 cm. and weights 2,014 grams. It is stamped with the French Government's Head of the Mnerva-1 hallmark certifying a minimum of 950 sterling silver in addition to the Henin & Cie sterling silver manufacturer's hallmark.

 
 
 
 

The "Hénins" formed a veritable dynasty in the world of French Silversmiths. The goldsmiths Thomas & Hénin joined forces in October of 1861 and opened their office at 77 rue des Archives in the 3rd arrondissement in Paris. They were succeeded by the company Hénin Frères in August 1865. In 1875 the company took the name of Hénin & Cie and operated until 1891. From 1896 Hénin operated again under the name of Hénin & Co.
